From Citizens Tribune:

After 18 years in the Tennessee House of Representative, David Hawk is seeking higher office.

Hawk, who represents Unicoi and part of Greene County, is seeking to replace U.S. Rep. Phil Roe, who is not seeking reelection, in Washington D.C.

Hawk, one of several candidates who qualified for the Republican primary in August, said he’s weighed helping around 70,000 people as a state representative versus helping nearly 10 times as many in the U.S. Congress.

“It’s been the greatest honor of my professional life, to serve in a legislative body,” he said. “I want to take the next logical step. I understand how a committee system works.
