David Hawk is a proud father, businessman, and Tennessee native who is passionate about his family, community, state, and country. He has served as a House member in the 103rd through 111th Tennessee General Assemblies, where he currently represents the 5th District.

After attending Tusculum University, he graduated with honors from East Tennessee State University where he received a degree in Marketing. He owned and operated a retail clothing store called The Tailor Shop with his family for 20 years, and gained the understanding of how important local businesses are to our towns. 


Continuing education has been critically important to David Hawk. He attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive program for State and Local Government in 2006, the 2016 Southern Legislative Conference Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills, and participated in the 2017 Council of State Governments Henry Toll Fellowship.

David Hawk’s commitment to the community is evident through his involvement with several local organizations including regional Kiwanis Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Main Street Organizations, Little Theater Companies and Recreation League Youth Athletic Teams. He is also a lifelong member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
